Granville Academy is a part of Affinity Learning Partnership. We are a Multi Academy Trust currently based in Staffordshire and Derbyshire. We consist of 3 Secondary Academies and 4 Primary Academies.

Our Languages department is thriving! The subject benefits from strong leadership and an outstanding group of teachers who are securing the very best outcomes for our students. In 2023 we achieved 70.6% - 5+. In 2024, outcomes were significantly above the national average with 90% 9-4 and 73% 9-5 and 35% 7+.

Our curriculum development is designed to offer a cohort of students the opportunity to study two languages if they desire as an indication of our commitment and the value we place on the importance of languages within the curriculum .

We are invested in strong pedagogy in a supportive safe learning environment where teachers can teach because systems are strong; where students feel safe to make mistakes, and teachers can select the most appropriate learning activities that enable students to learn well and succeed.

The Candidate

Due to promotion, we are seeking to appoint a dynamic and motivated teacher of linguistics with an infectious passion for their subject and specialist subject knowledge to join us at Granville Academy. You will be part of a team supported by 3 other expert teachers and will receive excellent support and opportunities for development within the academy and across the trust.

You must be confident in the delivery of MFL at KS3 and KS4 and have the ambition and dedication to continue to support the development of the curriculum and wider curriculum in line with current practice and research in effective teaching.

You will be able to support the promotion of excellent standards of student learning, achievement, progress, attainment and behaviour through working effectively and collaboratively. You will be passionate about your specialist subject, recognise the importance and impact that this area of the curriculum has on a students wider life, on their future destinations and career prospects.

The Faculty

The Language faculty currently consists of 3 other expert teachers who are all specialists.

We offer a strong ECT programme that supports retention and supports strong pedagogical practice.

Across Y7-11 we use Duolingo for homework, which enables our students to make high levels of progress and reduces workload.

GCSE outcomes are extremely strong, with students exceeding the national averages at all headline measures. We offer many overseas residential experiences for our students to immerse themselves and gain needed cultural capital that enhances their knowledge and application of languages.

We are forging strong links with our local primary schools to promote a love of languages and support the development at KS2.
